Varun Ramesh is a visionary leader in Kerala’s media landscape, with over two decades of groundbreaking contributions to digital media and storytelling. His career spans leadership roles at Mathrubhumi News, Asianet News Digital Edition, Asiaville Malayalam and DoolNews, where he consistently pushed the boundaries of innovation.  

A trailblazer in media, Varun introduced India’s first mobile vertical video program, ‘Nere Va Nere Po,’ and conceptualized Malayalam’s first daily web-exclusive video series. He spearheaded the revolutionary ‘Onappathippu’ 360-degree multimedia project and authored ‘Mayyazhi,’ the first-ever Malayalam immersive multimedia book, published by DC Books.  

Varun’s literary achievements include the award-winning children’s fiction ‘Prakrithiyathra,’ which earned him the Kerala State Institute of Children’s Literature Science Fiction Award (2009) and the Bhima Parashar Award (2007).  

As an educator, Varun has trained over 14,000 students and professionals since 2014, empowering them with future-ready storytelling skills. His workshops have been instrumental in transforming the workflows of leading Malayalam media houses, digital platforms, and academic institutions.  

Currently, Varun serves as a digital media trainer and consultant, guiding organizations in Kerala to integrate emerging technologies like AI, drone storytelling, and immersive media. He also mentors startups under the Kerala State Startup Mission as a digital media product strategist, solidifying his role as a catalyst for innovation and progress in the media industry.

ഡിജിറ്റൽ മീഡിയയിലും സ്റ്റോറിടെല്ലിങിലും 20 വർഷത്തെ അനുഭവപരിചയമുള്ള വരുൺ രമേഷ് കേരളത്തിലെ ഡിജിറ്റൽ മാധ്യമ രം​ഗത്ത് തന്റേതായ വ്യക്തിമുദ്ര പതിപ്പിച്ച വ്യക്തിയാണ്. ഡൂൾ ന്യൂസ് – സഹ സ്ഥാപകൻ, ഏഷ്യാവില്ലെ മലയാളം എഡിറ്റർ, ഏഷ്യാനെറ്റ് ന്യൂസ് ഓൺലൈൻ ഡിജിറ്റൽ വിഭാ​ഗം തലവൻ, മാതൃഭൂമി ന്യൂസ് തുടങ്ങിയ മാധ്യമ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളിൽ നേതൃത്വപരമായ പങ്ക് വഹിച്ചു. 

ആദ്യ പുസ്തകമായ ‘പ്രകൃതിയാത്ര’യ്ക്ക് കേരള സംസ്ഥാന ബാലസാഹിത്യ ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് ഓഫ് ചിൽഡ്രൻസ് സയൻസ് ഫിക്ഷൻ അവാർഡ് (2009), ഭീമ പുരസ്കാരം (2007).  മലയാളത്തിലെ ആദ്യ മൾട്ടിമീഡിയ ഇന്ററാക്ടീവ് പുസ്തകം ‘മയ്യഴി’ 2016 ൽ ഡിസി ബുക്സ് പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചു. 

ഏഷ്യാനെറ്റ് ന്യൂസ് ഓൺലൈനിൽ, ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ മൊബൈൽ വെർട്ടിക്കൽ വീഡിയോ പ്രോഗ്രാം ‘നേരെ വാ നേരേ പോ’ (2015) നിർമ്മിച്ചു. ഏഷ്യാനെറ്റ് ഡിജിറ്റൽ എഡിഷനിൽ മലയാളത്തിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ പ്രതിദിന വെബ്-എക്‌സ്‌ക്ലൂസീവ് വീഡിയോ പരിപാടി ‘അങ്ങനെയാണ് ഇങ്ങനെയായത്’ (2016) നിർമ്മിച്ചു. മലയാളത്തിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ 360 ഡി​ഗ്രി മൾട്ടിമീഡിയ ഇന്ററാക്ടീവ് ഓണപ്പതിപ്പ് ഏഷ്യാവിൽ മലയാളത്തിൽ (2019) വരുണിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ പുറത്തുവന്നു. 

നിലവിൽ, വരുൺ രമേഷ് Gen AI ട്രെയ്നറും സ്റ്റോറിടെല്ലറുമായി പ്രവർത്തിച്ചുവരുന്നു. 

കേരളത്തിലെ മാധ്യമങ്ങളെയും സർവ്വകലാശാലകളെയും കമ്പനികളെയും  അവരുടെ വർക്ക്ഫ്ലോകളിലേക്ക് AI, ഡ്രോൺ സ്റ്റോറിടെല്ലിംഗ്, ഫ്യൂച്ചർ സ്റ്റോറിടെല്ലിങ്  തുടങ്ങിയ സാങ്കേതിക വിദ്യകളെ സമന്വയിപ്പിക്കാനുള്ള  പരിശീലന പരിപാടികൾ ചെയ്തുവരുന്നു.
