Leena Gita Reghunath

Leena Gita Reghunath is a three-time national-award-winning journalist with two decades of experience in both journalism and law. She has been recognized for her exceptional reporting on crime and gender, receiving the prestigious Mumbai Press Club’s RedInk Award in 2015 and 2018, as well as the Laadli Media Award in 2018.

Leena has held several leadership roles in newsrooms, where she oversaw operations, investigations, audience-building across languages and platforms, and raised funds to support quality journalism. She served as the Editor of the Supreme Court Observer and previously held positions as Audience Development Editor and Editorial Manager at The Caravan. Her work has appeared in leading publications such as Al Jazeera, The Caravan, The New Indian Express, The Hindu, The Times of India, and Hindustan Times.

In addition to her journalism career, Leena is a lawyer with five years of trial-court experience as both a public prosecutor and civil lawyer in Kerala. She holds a law degree and a master’s degree in English literature.

Her work has been featured in the anthology The Caravan Book of Profiles, published by Penguin Random House India in 2017.
