V.M. Jayadevan, a native of Payyanur now residing in Kozhikode, is a distinguished officer of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS). He holds a diverse academic background, with a BSc in Mathematics from Payyanur College, an LLB from Calicut Law College, and an MA in Public Administration from IGNOU. His career with the Income Tax Department began in January 1992 as an Inspector in Mumbai. He was transferred to Kerala in 1995, where he spent a significant part of his career in the Investigation Wing, eventually rising through the ranks to become an Income Tax Officer (ITO) in 2005.
In 2017, Jayadevan was inducted into the prestigious IRS, and in the following years, he was promoted to Assistant Commissioner and then Deputy Commissioner in 2024. Throughout his career, he has been involved in several key roles, including stints as Asst. Director of Income Tax (Investigation) in both Kozhikode and Kochi. He has been instrumental in conducting and participating in around 200 income tax searches, targeting a wide range of individuals and businesses, including gold smugglers, financiers, film producers, and actors. His recent high-profile investigations include searches related to film producers and actors like Prithviraj. He is currently serving as the Deputy Commissioner of Income-tax, Circle 1(1), Kozhikode.
Jayadevan is also the trustee board member of Uravu, a not-for-profit bamboo based developmental organisation.

പയ്യന്നൂർ സ്വദേശി. ഇന്ത്യൻ റെവന്യൂ സർവീസ് (ഐ.ആർ.എസ്) ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥൻ. പയ്യന്നൂർ കോളേജിൽ നിന്ന് ഗണിത ശാസ്ത്രത്തിൽ ബി.എസ്‌സി. യും, കോഴിക്കോട് ലോ കോളേജിൽ നിന്ന് എൽ.എൽ.ബി. യും, ഇഗ്നോയിൽ നിന്ന് പബ്ലിക് അഡ്മിനിസ്ട്രേഷനിൽ എം.എ. യും നേടി.
1992- ജനുവരിയിൽ മുംബൈ ആദായനികുതി വകുപ്പിൽ ഇൻസ്പെക്ടറായി ഔദ്യോഗിക ജീവിതം ആരംഭിച്ചു. 1995-ൽ കേരളത്തിലേക്ക് സ്ഥലം മാറ്റം ലഭിച്ചു. തുടർന്ന് കരിയറിന്റെ ഒരു പ്രധാന ഭാഗം ഇൻവെസ്റ്റിഗേഷൻ വിഭാഗത്തിൽ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുകയും, 2005-ൽ ഇൻകം ടാക്സ് ഓഫീസറായി (ഐടിഒ) സ്ഥാനക്കയറ്റം നേടുകയും ചെയ്തു.
2017-ൽ ഐ.ആർ.എസ് പദവി ലഭിച്ച ജയദേവൻ, പിന്നീട് അസിസ്റ്റന്റ് കമ്മീഷണറായും 2024-ൽ ഡെപ്യൂട്ടി കമ്മീഷണറായും സ്ഥാനക്കയറ്റം നേടി. കോഴിക്കോടും കൊച്ചിയിലും അസിസ്റ്റന്റ് ഡയറക്ടർ ഓഫ് ഇൻകം ടാക്സ് (ഇൻവെസ്റ്റിഗേഷൻ) ഉൾപ്പെടെ നിരവധി പ്രധാന ചുമതലകൾ വഹിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. സ്വർണ്ണക്കടത്തുകാർ, പണമിടപാടുകാർ, സിനിമാ നിർമ്മാതാക്കൾ, അഭിനേതാക്കൾ തുടങ്ങിയവർക്കെതിരെ 200-ഓളം ആദായനികുതി റെയ്ഡുകൾക്ക് നേതൃത്വം നൽകുകയോ പങ്കാളിയാവുകയോ ചെയ്തു. അക്കൂട്ടത്തിൽ പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ട അന്വേഷണങ്ങളിലൊന്ന് നടൻ പൃഥ്വിരാജിനെതിരെയുള്ള റെയ്ഡായിരുന്നു. നിലവിൽ കോഴിക്കോട് സർക്കിൾ 1(1)ന്റെ ഡെപ്യൂട്ടി കമ്മീഷണർ ഓഫ് ഇൻകം-ടാക്സ്, ആയി സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിക്കുന്നു.
മുളയുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട വികസന പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ ലാഭേച്ഛയില്ലാതെ നടത്തുന്ന ‘ഉറവ് ‘ എന്ന സംഘടനയുടെ ട്രസ്റ്റി ബോർഡ് അംഗം കൂടിയാണ് ജയദേവൻ.
