Durga is the Co-founder and Chief Advisor at Nguvu Collective, a global women’s leadership organisation based in India, Kenya, Nigeria & South Africa.
At Nguvu Collective and previously at the Change.org Foundation, Durga focused on building digital campaigning and advocacy skills of women from marginalized communities. She has also spent time at Amnesty International and Change.org, and has wide ranging experience in Communications, Campaigning, Advocacy, and Fundraising in the development sector.
Durga was featured by the International Labour Organisation as one of the emerging women leaders in India.
Durga is a former television journalist and a mother, who rescues street animals with her daughter. She is based in Gudalur in The Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu.
Durga and her daughter gave up their life in New Delhi in search of alternate forms of living. They chose a peaceful and more inclusive life in rural India, closer to nature and wildlife, where Durga volunteers with a tribal organisation and her child goes to school with tribal children.
Durga writes extensively on gender rights and policy matters in Kenya and Nigeria. In Africa, her work is published in The Star Publications, Africa.com, Women in Kenya, Capital FM.

എൻഗുവു കളക്ടീവിലും അതിനുമുമ്പ് Change.org ഫൗണ്ടേഷനിലും, പാർശ്വവൽക്കരിക്കപ്പെട്ട സമൂഹങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള സ്ത്രീകളുടെ ഡിജിറ്റൽ കാമ്പെയ്‌നിംഗും, അഭിഭാഷക കഴിവുകളും വളർത്തുന്നതിൽ ദുർഗ്ഗ ശ്രദ്ധ കേന്ദ്രീകരിച്ചു. ആംനസ്റ്റി ഇന്റർനാഷണലിലും പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. വികസന മേഖലയിലെ ആശയവിനിമയം, പ്രചരണം, അഭിഭാഷക പ്രവർത്തനം, ധനസമാഹരണം എന്നീ മേഖലകളിൽ വിപുലമായ അനുഭവസമ്പത്ത്.
ഇന്ത്യയിലെ വളർന്നുവരുന്ന വനിതാ നേതാക്കളിൽ ഒരാളായി ഇന്റർനാഷണൽ ലേബർ ഓർഗനൈസേഷൻ ഇവരെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തിരുന്നു.
ഒരു മുൻ ടെലിവിഷൻ പത്രപ്രവർത്തക കൂടിയായ ദുർഗ്ഗ, മകളോടൊപ്പം തെരുവ് മൃഗങ്ങളെ രക്ഷിക്കുന്ന പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളിലും ഏർപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. തമിഴ്‌നാട്ടിലെ നീലഗിരി ജില്ലയിലെ ഗൂഡല്ലൂരിലാണ് ഇപ്പോൾ താമസം.
ഡൽഹിയിലെ ജീവിതം ഉപേക്ഷിച്ച് ബദൽ ജീവിതരീതി തേടിയാണ് ദുർഗ്ഗയും മകളും ഗ്രാമീണ ഇന്ത്യയിലെ പ്രകൃതിയോടും വന്യജീവികളോടും അടുത്ത്, കൂടുതൽ സമാധാനപരവും എല്ലാവരെയും ഉൾക്കൊള്ളുന്നതുമായ ഒരു ജീവിതം തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തത്. ഗൂഡല്ലൂരിൽ ദുർഗ്ഗ ഒരു ഗോത്രവർഗ്ഗ സംഘടനയിൽ സന്നദ്ധപ്രവർത്തനം നടത്തുന്നു. അവരുടെ മകൾ ഗോത്രവർഗ്ഗ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളോടൊപ്പം സ്കൂൾ അഭ്യസിക്കുന്നു.
