Prakash Chenthalam

Author, Tribal poet, Lyricist. 

Prakash Chenthalam is the first writer from the Mala Vettuva tribal community in Kasaragod. He writes poetry in both Malayalam and the tribal language.

He was the first to document the Mala Vettuva tribal language through his writings. His work has been featured in various digital magazines, and in prominent publications such as Mathrubhumi, Malayalam Madhyamam, and Deshabhimani. His first poetry collection is titled “Ocha Ocha Kallukale.”

Four of his poems were included in the “Gothra Kavithakal” (Tribal Poems) collection published by DC Books. One of these poems titled “Kadarathu”, written in Mala Vettuva tribal language is part of the class 7 textbook.

He works as an assistant director, storyteller, lyricist, and poet. He has received numerous accolades, including the Changampuzha Award and the Sivarama Pillai Award.

പ്രകാശ് ചെന്തളം

എഴുത്തുകാരൻ, ഗോത്രകവി, ഗാനരചയിതാവ്.

കാസർഗോഡ് മലവേട്ടുവ ഗോത്രത്തിൽ നിന്നുമുള്ള ആദ്യത്തെ സാഹിത്യകാരൻ. മലയാളത്തിലും ഗോത്രഭാഷയിലും കവിതകൾ എഴുതി വരുന്നു.

സഹ സംവിധായകൻ, കഥാകൃത്ത്, ഗാനരചിതാവ്, കവി എന്നി മേഖലകളിൽ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നു. ചങ്ങംമ്പുഴ പുരസ്ക്കാരം, ശിവരാമപ്പിള്ള പുരസ്ക്കാരം തുടങ്ങി നിരവധി പുരസ്ക്കാരങ്ങൾ ലഭിച്ചു.

മലവേട്ടുവ ഗോത്രഭാഷയെ ആദ്യമായി അക്ഷരങ്ങളിലൂടെ  അടയാളപ്പെടുത്തിയത് പ്രകാശ് ചെന്തളമാണ്.  മാതൃഭൂമി, മലയാളം, മാധ്യമം, ദേശാഭിമാനി തുടങ്ങി നിരവധി മാസികകളിലും നിരവധി ഡിജിറ്റൽ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണങ്ങളിലും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ രചനകൾ  പ്രസീദ്ധികരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.  ‘ഒച്ച ഒച്ച കല്ലുകളെ’ യാണ് ആദ്യ കവിതാ സമാഹാരം. 

ഡി സി ബുക്സ് പ്രസീദ്ധികരിച്ച ഗോത്ര കവിതകൾ എന്ന സമാഹാരത്തിൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കവിതകൾ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. അതിലെ ‘കാടരത് ‘ എന്ന കവിത ഇപ്പോൾ ഏഴാംക്ലാസ് പാഠപുസ്തകത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമാണ്.

സഹ സംവിധായകൻ, കഥ പറച്ചിലുകാരൻ എന്നീ മേഖലകളിലും പ്രകാശ് ചെന്തളം പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നു. ചങ്ങമ്പുഴ പുരസ്കാരം, ശിവരാമപ്പിള്ള പുരസ്കാരം തുടങ്ങി നിരവധി അംഗീകാരങ്ങൾ ലഭിച്ചു.
