S. Hareesh 

Writer, Translator, Screenwriter. 

S. Hareesh is a well-known writer, translator and screenwriter. He is best known for his short stories and his acclaimed but controversial debut novel, Meesa, which explores caste in Kerala in the mid-20th century. He is the author of three short story collections: Rasavidyayude Charithram, Adam and Appan. 

Hareesh received the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award twice (for Meesha in 2019 and Adam in 2016), and he won the JCB Prize for Literature in 2020 for Moustache. He has also written the screenplays for the film Aedan, which received the Kerala State Award for Best Screenplay in 2017, and Jallikattu, which won a Silver Peacock at the International Film Festival of India and was India’s official entry in the Best International Feature category at the 93rd Academy Awards.

എഴുത്തുകാരൻ, വിവർത്തകൻ, തിരക്കഥാകൃത്ത്.

പ്രശസ്തനായ എഴുത്തുകാരനും വിവർത്തകനും തിരക്കഥാകൃത്തുമാണ് എസ്. ഹരീഷ്. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ചെറുകഥകളിലൂടെയും, മധ്യകാല കേരളത്തിലെ ജാതിവ്യവസ്ഥയെക്കുറിച്ച് പ്രതിപാദിച്ചതും ഏറെ ശ്രദ്ധേയവും എന്നാൽ വിവാദപരവുമായ ‘മീശ’ എന്ന ആദ്യ നോവലിലൂടെയുമാണ് അദ്ദേഹം പ്രധാനമായും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. ‘രസവിദ്യയുടെ ചരിത്രം’, ‘ആദം’, ‘അപ്പൻ’ എന്നിവയാണ് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പ്രധാന ചെറുകഥാ സമാഹാരങ്ങൾ.

ഹരീഷിന് രണ്ട് തവണ കേരള സാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമി അവാർഡ് ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട് (2019-ൽ മീശയ്ക്കും 2016-ൽ ആദത്തിനും). 2020-ൽ ‘മസ്താഷ്’ എന്ന നോവലിന് ജെ.സി.ബി. സാഹിത്യ പുരസ്കാരവും നേടി. 2017-ൽ മികച്ച തിരക്കഥയ്ക്കുള്ള കേരള സംസ്ഥാന അവാർഡ് നേടിയ ‘ഏദൻ’, ഇൻറ്റർനാഷണൽ ഫിലിം ഫെസ്റ്റിവൽ ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യയിൽ സിൽവർ പീക്കോക്ക് നേടിയതും 93-ാമത് അക്കാദമി അവാർഡിൽ മികച്ച അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര ഫീച്ചർ വിഭാഗത്തിൽ ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ഔദ്യോഗിക എൻട്രിയുമായിരുന്ന ‘ജല്ലിക്കട്ട്’ എന്നീ സിനിമകളുടെ തിരക്കഥകളും അദ്ദേഹം രചിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
